With the vast Sustainability Reports available currently, we used content analysis to extract “replicable and valid inferences from texts” to analyze patterns in sustainability reporting. We selected 24 large Asian companies in the energy industry from the GRI database (database.globalreporting.org) to identify the most frequently disclosed sustainability topics. Furthering the analysis into other industries, both a within-industry and within-company variation was obvious.
